🧩 Overview
Ubongo 3D expands on the original Ubongo puzzle concept by adding a third dimension and a real-time race element. It’s designed for 1–4 players (or solo play), typically takes about 25–30 minutes to play, and is suitable for ages 8 and up. Board Game Guys+1
🧠 Objective
Each round, players try to place all their designated 3D puzzle pieces so they perfectly fill a 3D shape depicted on their puzzle card before time runs out. The faster you complete the puzzle, the better your rewards. UltraBoardGames
🧱 How It Works
-
Puzzle Cards: There are 72 double-sided puzzle boards with a total of 671 unique puzzles, and each side offers different challenges — from easier to harder. 3D Pieces: Each player gets a set of 8 durable 3D blocks in various shapes.
-
Timed Challenges: A die roll tells you which pieces to use, then you flip the hourglass timer and race to assemble them correctly at two level heights.
-
Real-Time Puzzle Solving: As soon as someone finishes, they shout “Ubongo!” — a Swahili word meaning “brain”
💎 Scoring
Players collect colorful plastic gems for solving puzzles:
-
First solver gets a valuable gem plus a bonus.
-
Second gets a slightly smaller bonus.
-
Third and fourth still get gems.
After nine rounds, the player with the most valuable gem collection (highest total points) wins.
